My main body of work deals with icons of the Cuban Revolution. After spending time in Cuba it became apparent to me that even though the triumph of the revolution was forty-five ago it seems like the results of a recent revolution.
I found my images not only in public places which were government sponsored but in peoples homes where there where proudly displayed images of "Che", Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, and Juan Abrantes Fernendez among other leaders of the revolutionary struggle.
The images which cover Santeria and Palo Monte are used to describe the African influence on Cuban spiritual thought.
The location photographs give the viewer a personal view of the very special and unique sense of place that one encounters in present day Cuba.
